Bloksera · Your trade companion

Know what your food import needs before it reaches the port.

Send me your product list. For every product you get the commodity code, the duty, every certificate and border check it needs, and what's still missing, each line with the rule behind it. Then I keep watching it, every month.

Advisory only. I'm not a customs broker and I never file anything with HMRC, Defra or any agency for you. Your broker still does that.

You can't ask about a rule you don't know exists.

Take one product: baklava from Turkey.

The rule you'd ask about

The butter. Without the dairy maker's approval number, it can't take the lighter route for composite foods.

The rule you wouldn't

The pistachios. Turkish pistachios are on the high-risk list for aflatoxins, so the product needs a border check whatever happens with the butter.

Even when a broker files for you, you're responsible for the rules. Their mistakes can leave you owing the extra duty and VAT.

Why it matters
Critical items sit at the top of your catalogue. This one must not ship until it's cleared.

Why it matters
The full path, so your broker can check it in a minute rather than trust it.

Duty

0% with proof of Turkish origin. 8% without it.

Why it matters
Every preferential rate comes with its condition and what it falls back to.

VAT

Both 0% and 20% sit on this code. My lean: 20%. Confirm with HMRC before invoicing.

Why it matters
When the law isn't clear, the entry says so and tells you who can settle it.

Why it matters
Every control on the code, in plain English.

Why it matters
Nothing rests on my word alone.

Every month

The answer has a date on it

Rules change, certificates lapse, suppliers get flagged. The next big change is already scheduled: from mid-2027, food from outside the EU is set to face EU import requirements at British border posts.

GOV.UK, SPS agreement guidance, July 2026
  • Your dates.Certificate and registration expiry, flagged before they lapse.
  • Your suppliers.Re-checked against the UK sanctions list and FSA food alerts.
  • Your rules. When a rule changes on something you import, you hear about that product. Not a newsletter.
  • Your questions.Ask about a new product before you commit to it, on WhatsApp or email.

Who's behind it

An answer you can't check is a guess.

  • Every line carries its source and the date it was checked. If your broker disagrees, you both have something to open.
  • The code you were given gets checked, not copied.
  • When something isn't certain, the entry says so, and what would settle it.

Questions

Good, keep them. They file the declaration from what you give them. I tell you what the product needs before you commit to the order. Every entry is sourced, so you can forward it straight to them.

Yes, the HMRC tariff is free. The baklava code carries 8 rules. Reading them isn't the hard part. Knowing which apply to your product, and spotting when one changes, is.

Every line shows its source and the date I checked it, so you or your broker can verify it first. I advise; I don't file. Responsibility for your declarations stays with you, as with any adviser.

No. UK rules come from UK sources: HMRC, Defra, the FSA and legislation.gov.uk. Response times run on UK working days.

What this is not

  • Not A filing service.I never submit anything to HMRC, Defra, the FSA or any other agency for you.
  • Not A licensed broker.I'm not a customs broker or any other licensed trade professional.
  • Not A replacement for your broker.I tell you what's needed. They handle the entry.
  • Not A label check.I cover codes, duty, certificates, border checks and monitoring.

Who this is for

For

UK businesses importing food regularly, with more than a handful of products and a broker or agent already in place.

Not for

One-off or personal shipments, or anyone who needs their declarations filed for them.

How it starts

  1. Email me or book 15 minutes.
  2. Send your product list: what each product is, its ingredients, packaging and origin. A spreadsheet or a rough list both work.
  3. I send any questions back in one go, then your first catalogue, Critical items first.
  4. From then on, I watch it. You hear from me when a date is close or a rule moves.

Send me one product. I'll tell you what it needs.

No card, no demo. Email the product and where it comes from. The first answer is free.
