Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal information Bloksera collects, why, what we do with it, and your rights. It is written for business contacts: people we reach out to, people who contact us, and the staff of our clients.
1. Who we are

2. What we collect and where it comes from
If we contact you about our service
- Your name, job title, business email address, business phone number and the company you work for.
- Where it comes from: business directories of UK food importers and exporters, Companies House, your company's own website, and Apollo.io, a business contact data provider.
- We only send unsolicited emails to limited companies and other corporate bodies, not to sole traders or partnerships.
If you contact us or book a call
- Your name, email address, anything you tell us in your message, and the time of any call you book.
If you become a client
- The names, email addresses and phone numbers of the people we work with at your company.
- The product information, documents and certificates you send us. These are mostly business information, but some documents may include names or signatures.
- The names of your suppliers, which we screen against the UK sanctions list and Food Standards Agency alerts. Where a supplier is a sole trader, their name is personal information.
- Billing details for invoicing.
- Messages you send us by email or WhatsApp.
When you visit our website
- Our website host may record technical information such as your IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.
- We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- Contact businesses that import or export food about our service
- Legitimate interests: telling relevant businesses about a service that fits their work. You can object at any time and we will stop.

- Legitimate interests, or steps you ask us to take before entering a contract
- Deliver the service to clients: classification, checklists, monitoring and answering questions
- Contract
- Screen client suppliers against the UK sanctions list and FSA alerts

- Invoicing and keeping accounting records
- Legal obligation
- Keeping our systems and website secure
- Legitimate interests
We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted service providers who process personal information for us, under contract, and only for the purposes above:
- Google (Google Workspace): email, calendar bookings and file storage.
- Apollo.io: business contact data and sending our outreach emails.
- Meta (WhatsApp): only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
- Anthropic (Claude): AI-assisted research tools we use to help prepare answers. Every answer is checked by a person before it is sent.
- Our website hosting provider.
- Our accounting, invoicing and payment providers.
We may also share information with professional advisers, or with authorities where the law requires it.
5. International transfers
Some of our service providers store or process information outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or on the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
Our director works from Oman. Accessing our own systems from there stays within our organisation and is not a transfer to another company. We keep security measures in place for that access.
6. How long we keep it
- Outreach contacts who don't become clients
- 2 years from our last contact with you, or sooner if you ask
- If you ask us not to contact you
- We keep your name and email on a do-not-contact list, so we don't contact you again
- Enquiries and call bookings that don't lead to work
- 2 years
- Client contacts, product catalogs and documents
- For as long as we work together, then 12 months, then deleted. You can ask for an export before then.
- Invoices and accounting records
- 6 years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK law requires
7. Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to restrict how we use it
- object to how we use it, including an absolute right to object to direct marketing
- ask us to move it to another organisation, where that applies
To use any of these rights, email ahmed@bloksera.com. We will reply within one month. If a request is complex, we may extend this by up to two more months and will tell you why.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please complain to us first at ahmed@bloksera.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it, and tell you the outcome without undue delay.
You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (opens in a new tab) or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Security
We limit access to your information to the people who need it, and use encrypted connections to protect it.
10. Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of this page.
